Design Process:
The design of a site can be undertaken as one complete project, or divided into many sections. Often this is related to seasonal variations, budgets, or streamlining with other services such as builders, architects, interior designers, etc.
Many owners stage the design and construction of a project over a period of time to help overcome these constraints. The following list gives a typical example of the design process for an average site:
- Initial consultation with client on site to discuss site design needs and program.
- After receiving a site survey and house plans, Staats Design Studio prepares a concept site and landscape plan.
- Concept plan is then discussed with client. If necessary, alterations are made.
- Staats Design Studio prepares site Master Plan. For residential work, plans may sometimes need to be submitted to an approval board.
- Staats Design Studio prepares Construction Documents. If necessary, engineers plans are also created, especially if retaining walls are needed.
- Quote(s) obtained from contractors.
- Landscaping work begins. Staats Design Studio can provide construction administration services for this part of the project.
